Chapter 9 - The Ball

Maggie's eyes widened behind the gold mask she was wearing. She was in awe as Mercer escorted her into the ballroom. Everything was larger than life. Maggie had served at a ball many times before but actually attending one was entirely different. The dresses, the uniforms, and the overall feel of the room made her whole body tingle. She was glad she was wearing a mask. If she did not have the mask on these noble people would have recognised her as the servant girl who changed their sheets everyday and brought them their meals. Maggie smiled as she walked through the crowd towards Lord Beckett.

Mercer stopped as they approached the area of the room where Lord Beckett was standing up talking to other high ranking officers. He was slowly sipping on a glass of brandy. He was wearing his uniform and a mask identical to Maggie's. The conversation was interrupted when they approached. Maggie reverenced and awaited Lord Beckett's command. The officer's eyes were immediately locked on Maggie. Maggie suddenly felt very uncomfortable.

"Thank you, Mercer." Lord Beckett said waving him away with two fingers. "Rise up, my dear." Mercer turned and took his post by the door.

Maggie smiled as she stood up. Lord Beckett offered his arm to the mysterious beauty. Maggie took it and joined him at his side. The officers were curious as to who this young lady was. None of them were bold enough to ask Lord Beckett who his companion was.

None, that is except Captain Smythe, "My lord, who is the stunning beauty by your side?"

Lord Beckett enjoyed keeping everyone guessing. He smiled and glanced over at Maggie. Maggie took a small nervous breath. She looked over at Lord Beckett. He gave her that small devilish grin and her heart fluttered.

"This is Rosalind." He answered.

Rosalind?!? Maggie smiled meekly glad to have her mask on. Captain Smythe offered his hand to Rosalind. Maggie slowly extended her hand to Captain Smythe. He held it gently and kissed the back of it. Maggie nodded her head in acknowledgement of his kind gesture.

"You must save a dance for me, Rosalind." Captain Smythe said smiling. "That is of course unless Lord Beckett objects?"

Beckett raised his chin and looked down his nose at Captain Smthye. "I have no objections." He answered. "Now, if you will excuse us I would like a word with my dear Rosalind alone."

With that Lord Beckett escorted Maggie out on to a near by balcony. Maggie thought her heart was going to burst out of her chest it was beating so fast. Beckett walked them over to the railing. He turned and looked into Maggie's eyes.

"My dear, Maggie. It has been too long. I have missed your company. I was hoping to have more time with you after the last service you performed for me. You did me a great service that evening." Beckett leaned in towards her. Maggie's eyes shot from Beckett's eyes to his lips and back again.

Maggie began to speak, "Lord Beckett, I want to apologize..."Beckett silenced her words with a kiss.

He pressed his lips against hers and cupped his hand around the back of her neck. Maggie was in shock. Was this really happening? His lips were soft and gentle. Realizing that this is what she had been waiting for she returned his kiss passionately. She had dreamt of kissing Lord Beckett for the last 2 months and now it was actually happening.

Beckett had been waiting to seduce Maggie for two months. Ever since he ordered her out of his room he had been trying to find a way to lure her back into his services. Tonight was that night. He knew she would be a prisoner of her own feelings for him. He let those feelings grow over the last couple of months. He knew by asking for someone else to serve him she would think she had done something wrong and mentally punish herself over and over again.

By the way she kissed him back he was right. Beckett broke off their kiss gently. Maggie looked lovingly into Beckett's eyes. Beckett inwardly grinned proud of himself. He knew she would do anything for him.

"Maggie, remember the night I had you wait by the docks?" Beckett asked.

"Aye." She responded. Remember?!? Yes, she remembered. All she had to do was rub her hand on the back of her head. She had a lump that made it hard to forget.

"Well, that night you helped me find out which one of my officers is trying to deceive me." He said.

"I did?" She was perplexed. She didn't remember helping him like that. Did one of the soldiers that manhandled her deceive him?

"Yes, you see one of my officers tried to help two of my prisoners escape. Only one got away. The one that was caught told me Captain Smythe was the one that was helping them." He explained.

Captain Smythe?!? The one that asked her to dance? "Well, I will not dance with him!" She exclaimed.

"On the contrary, I want you to dance with him. I want you to see if you can find out if he is working alone or if he has friends helping him. Can you do this service for me, Maggie?" He leaned in like he was going to kiss her again.

Maggie involuntarily bit her bottom lip. "Aye, Lord Beckett." Was her only response.

"Good. Now let's go join the others. You don't want to miss your dance with Captain Smythe now do you?" He only half asked.

Maggie shook her head. She let out the breath she had been holding. She was hoping he would kiss her again. Maybe if she did this service for him he would kiss her again. It's not like she hadn't over heard an officer's conversation before while cleaning their room or serving them meals. Maggie was bound and determined to make Lord Beckett proud of her this time.

Lord Beckett escorted Maggie back into the ballroom. Captain Smythe was still standing with the rest of the officers sipping their brandy. He immediately noticed when the couple re-entered the room. He smiled at Maggie. Maggie didn't have to play the part of a shy young woman. She blushed and slightly turned her head to the side. Beckett noticed Captain Smythe's charm working on Maggie. Good. He thought. They like each other. Even better.

Captain Smythe's ears perked up. "Ah, the Waltz. Rosalind, we simply must dance this dance."

Maggie looked at Beckett for approval. He nodded his head to her and handed her off to Captain Smythe. Maggie took the captain's out stretched hand. He escorted her to the dance floor. He placed one hand on Maggie's lower back and one hand in her free hand. Maggie suddenly became very nervous. She had watched the nobles dance the Waltz on several occasions but had never actually danced it herself. 123...123... Maggie chanted to herself.

Maggie tried to avoid eye contact with Captain Smythe by looking around the room. She glanced in Lord Beckett's direction and he raised his glass to her. She smiled back at him.

"You are a very nice dance partner." Captain Smythe said complimenting her.

Maggie snapped her attention back to him smiling sheepishly. "Thank you." She replied meekly.

"So tell me Rosalind, how did you meet Lord Beckett?" He asked.

What?!? Maggie wasn't prepared to answer that kind of question. Maggie's mind raced. "I was introduced to him over breakfast one morning." She quickly replied.

He nodded his head like that was a perfectly normal occurrence. Maggie was relieved her answer was acceptable. She took a moment to think of a question she could ask him.

"Where is your post here at the fort?" She asked innocently.

"My post?" He asked.

Maggie cursed herself for asking such a stupid question.

"My post," he continued, "is in the brig."

"The brig?" She questioned knowing exactly what the brig was.

"Yes, I guard prisoners." He explained.

"Oh, I see." She said trying to sound interested in him.

Not sure of what to ask next she tried looking around the room again. He stared straight ahead and continued guiding them around the room. When the song ended he bowed and asked if she would like something to drink. She nodded.

Beckett watched at the two walked over to a table where Captain Smythe poured Maggie a glass of rum. Maggie's eyes widened. She had never had any kind of alcohol before. She had seen nobles deep into their cups staggering to their rooms before, and had cleaned up many dreadful messes they had made too.

Captain Smythe handed her the glass half full of rum. She smiled and took a sip of it. She choked and sputtered a bit. Captain Smythe chuckled.

"Not one for hard liquor, I take it? Let me see if I can find something more suitable for you, Rosalind." He said watching her face crimson with embarrassment.

"No! I mean no, thank you. This is fine...just fine." She lied. Maggie tilted the glass all the way up and chugged down the rest of the rum. Maggie tried not to make a face but the rum burned her throat and make her stomach burst into flames.

Captain Smythe's eyes widened in surprise. Maggie lowered the glass and smiled back at him. He began to laugh as he accepted the glass from her.

"Nicely done!" He quipped. Maggie smiled. "Ready for another dance?" He asked.

"Yes." She said quickly, almost too quickly. "I mean, yes, that would be very nice." She said correcting herself.

Captain Smythe took her hand and guided her out to the dance floor again. Maggie and Captain Smythe danced over and over again. They also shared a few more glasses of rum too! Maggie was having so much fun she almost forgot she was in the service of Lord Beckett. She glanced around the room and saw Lord Beckett giving her an icy stare.

She cleared her throat and tried to think of another question to ask Captain Smythe. My was her head swimming with rum right now. She tried to think straight, but was unable to do so.

"Would you take me to the balcony for some fresh air?" She asked.

"Yes, of course Rosalind." He answered.

Captain Smythe escorted her outside. Lord Beckett watched as the couple walked out of the room. He motioned to Mercer. Mercer followed the couple and settled in the shadows to listen and watch.

As the couple was about to reach the railing Maggie tripped on her skirts and tumbled into Captain Smythe's arms. He instinctively grabbed her and held her close. Maggie could feel his heart beating fast. Maggie looked up at him unknowingly parting her lips. He looked at her and began to lean down towards her. Captain Smythe jerked his head back up hearing a noise near the door and looked at the shadows. He saw nothing.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yes, yes I am." Maggie answered.

Maggie stood up and straightened her dress with her hand. She turned away from him and looked up at the moon. The edges were a little blurry to her, but it was still bright and beautiful.

Captain Smythe looked at Maggie in the moonlight. He thought she looked beautiful. "Rosalind, why are you with Lord Beckett?" He asked.

Maggie was taken aback. She didn't know how to answer that question, so she continued in her silence.

"I am sorry to ask you that, but I must know. I don't know what you see in him. He is not a nice man." He said as he stood next to her and put his hand on hers. Maggie froze. She didn't know what to do.

She tried to come up with an answer, but her head was still swimming with alcohol. She looked up at him trying to think of what to tell him. He looked back down at her with concern in his eyes.

"I can see it in your eyes." He said. Maggie blinked. "I can see that you are just as much a prisoner by his side as one of the prisoners in the brig." He continued.

"No, you're wro..." She started to say. He interrupted her by saying,"I can help you. I can help you escape."

"Escape?" Maggie asked.

"Yes, if you wish to get away from Lord Beckett I will help you." He answered.

Get away from Lord Beckett? She loved him. Why would she want to get away from him? Remembering that this was exactly the information that Lord Beckett was seeking Maggie went along with the conversation.

"Suppose I do, how can you help me?" She asked.

"Have you leave to go to into town tomorrow?" He asked.

"Yes." She answered.

"Meet me by the old church near the docks and I will have passage for you back to England." He assured her. "You won't be able to bring your belongings with you, so make sure the dress you wear is the dress you are most comfortable in. You will be wearing if for the entire journey to England." Maggie nodded her head in understanding.

"Rosalind?" Lord Beckett called to her.

Captain Smythe quickly stepped away from Maggie. Maggie turned back towards the moon.

"There you are, my dear." Beckett said.

"Yes, my lord. I am here." she answered. Lord Beckett walked up to Maggie and snaked his arm around her waist possessively.

"I've missed you." He hissed in her ear. "I was beginning to think Captain Smythe was going to steal you away from me." He jokingly sneered. The three chuckled.

"It was wonderful dancing with you tonight, Rosalind." Captain Smythe said as he bowed and turned to leave. Maggie nodded her head in acknowledgement of his compliment.

"Well, my dear, did you enjoy your little tryst with Captain Smythe?" He whispered in her ear. Maggie felt his hot breath on her earlobe. He felt her shiver from it. "The cold air isn't good for young ladies in your condition. Let us retire to my chambers. Shall we?"

"Yes, my lord." Maggie answered knowing she really didn't have a choice.

Lord Beckett escorted Maggie back inside. He shook a few hands and made his way with her in tow across the dance floor and out of the ballroom. He guided her down the hall and across the fort to his chambers.

Once inside he locked his office and bed chamber doors. He removed his mask and placed it on his desk. Maggie wavered as she stood waiting for his orders. Beckett walked over to her and ran his finger across her neck. He removed her mask and set it down on a nearby table. He then rested his hand on the back of her neck.

"Is there something you want to tell me, Maggie?" Beckett asked leaning towards her.

Maggie could feel his warm breath on her face. She looked at his lips yearning to kiss him again. "Aye, my lord. I do." she answered.

Beckett leaned in closer and brushed his lips against hers. Maggie sucked in a slow breath. She leaned in to kiss him. Beckett pulled his face away from hers.

"Tell me what you know, my dear." He said as he looked down at her. Maggie tried to form her words correctly.

"Captain Smythe said that he would help me escape from you and to meet him down at the church near the docks. He said that he would have a ship waiting for me that would take me back to England." Maggie finished.

"Good girl, Maggie, you have done me a great service tonight." He said complimenting her. Beckett tucked a stray hair behind her ear. He ran his hands gently down her arms. Maggie shivered nervously. Beckett turned her around to where he was standing behind her.

"My lord," Maggie turned her head to see him behind her and began to speak, but Beckett silenced her.

"Do not speak unless spoken to. Understand?" He ordered. "Now face forward."

Maggie silently nodded her head and faced forward again. Beckett began unlacing Maggie's dress and corset. As he untied each lace he kiss her back over and over again. Maggie took a deep breath every time feeling little spots of heat where his mouth had been on her flesh. Kiss... kiss...kiss...it continued until the task was done. He then slowly tugged her sleeves down exposing her shoulders. Beckett placed his hands on her shoulders and gently squeezed the slightly tightened muscles.

"Relax." He said firmly.

The sound of his voice while very commanding comforted Maggie. She released the breath she had been holding. Her shoulders fell. Maggie's head was dizzy from the rum. She let her head fall gently back and to one side. Beckett slid his fingers into Maggie's hair and gently but firmly pulled her head back a little more exposing her neck. He took a moment and smell the freshly exposed skin. The smell of her aroused his manhood. He looked at her flesh like a wolf about to feast on his prey. His teeth were barred and he licked the edge of them. He gently bit her neck sinking his teeth into her porcelain skin. The heat of his mouth surprisingly aroused Maggie. She could feel her thighs warming with every flick of his tongue. While Beckett was relentlessly attacking her neck he released her head and tugged her dress down. Maggie dropped her head down watching her dress fall into a pile at her feet. Maggie stood there in her chemise and bloomers suddenly feeling very exposed. Maggie suddenly felt very nervous again.

"Step out of your dress and remove your chemise." Beckett commanded.

Maggie stepped out of her dress. She began to turn and face Beckett, but he stopped her with a single look. She turned away from him. She crossed her arms in front of her and grasped the hem of her chemise with both hands. She slowly lifted her chemise exposing her virgin breasts. Maggie tugged her chemise over her head dropping it to the ground next to her dress.

Beckett stepped closer to her and wrapped his arms around her exploring the newly claimed territory from both sides. Maggie's mouth dropped open and her eyes rolled back into her head. Beckett rolled one of her nipples between his fingers. Maggie sucked it a staggering breath and arched her back against Beckett. Beckett looked up from her neck and smiled wickedly.

Beckett slid his hands down her stomach holding her in her arms for a brief moment. Maggie leaned her head back and took in the moment savoring it. She nuzzled the back of her head against Beckett's shoulder. Beckett released his hold on her and took her hand. He led her to his bed.

He sat down on his bed and positioned Maggie to stand in front of him. Her breasts were level with his face. He admired her plump round breasts for a moment. Maggie felt very uncomfortable standing there facing him in nothing but her bloomers.

"Kneel down and remove my boots." He ordered.

Maggie knelt down and unlaced his boots one at a time. She slowly removed one and then the other. She placed them next to the bed. Maggie looked up at him. He silently told her to stand using his first two fingers. Maggie followed his silent command.

"Sit down." He ordered.

Maggie sat down next to him. Beckett stood up and knelt down in front of her. He slowly removed her shoes. Beckett slowly ran his hands up Maggie's legs to her hips. Beckett rested his head in Maggie's lap for a moment hugging her. Maggie wasn't sure what to do. He seemed so vunerable right now. Beckett lifted his head and looked up at her with what seemed to be compassion in his eyes. That look quickly changed to the commander he was.

"Lay back." He said as he stood up. Maggie did as she was told. He leaned over her and tugged her tights and bloomers off of her tossing them aside. Beckett proceeded to undress himself gently laying his clothes on a chair next to the bed.

Maggie couldn't believe this was actually happening. She thought for sure that she would wake up in the morning and realize that she was just dreaming again. A very real, flesh touching flesh, heart pounding, heated dream.

Beckett finished undressing and lay his naked self down next Maggie. The naked entirerty of his flesh next to hers ignited tingling flames upon every inch of her skin that was touching him. She had never felt this type of sensation before. The heat penetrated her skin finding its way to her core.

Beckett enjoyed watching her knowing she would do anything to please him. Beckett slid his hand down her thigh cupping his hand around it pulling it towards him. He then placed his body on top of hers positioning himself between her open legs. Maggie began to shake nervously. Beckett leaned down and kissed her gently. Maggie stopped shaking and wrapped her arms around him. Beckett rubbed his hand down her side the moistness beneath him being his destination. He slowly circled the wetness before slowly inserting his fingers. Knowing this was her first time he wanted to stretch her tender muscles before allowing her to feel him in his entirerty.

Maggie's eyes shot wide open when she felt Lord Beckett's fingers touch her moist mound. As his fingers penetrated her something inside of her woke up that had been laying dormant until now. Maggie relaxed and let a small moan escape her mouth. Maggie licked her lips and began to instinctively rock her hips beneath him.

Beckett enjoyed feeling Maggie wriggle beneath him. The feel of her naked flesh moving beneath him gave him power. Her body was moving to the commands of his touch which filled him with satisfaction. His ever growing arousal began pushing against his own fingers like a battering ram creating an entrance to stake its claim in her.

Without any warning Beckett submerged himself inside of Maggie. Maggie screamed in pain. She looked up at Beckett with frightened eyes. Beckett looked down at her revealing in the pain he was causing her. Maggie began to try and push him off of her. He grabbed her hands and held them to either side of her head. Maggie began to cry loudly. Beckett gave her a single look and her sobs of pain quickly quieted. Maggie bit her bottom lip trying not to give in to the pain of his intrusion.

Beckett continued to pound at Maggie's softness. The pain Maggie had originally felt slowly turned into feelings of pleasure. The pleasure intensified with every stroke. Maggie soon realized she yearned for the pain. She wanted to feel him inside her more and more. She wrapped her legs around his back trying to get him closer to her. Beckett felt her legs engulf him. He began to increase the instensity of his thrusts.

Beckett released Maggie's hands and repositioned himself to where the bed had the full pressure of his weight leaning on his hands. This put his hips in a postion to give him more power. Maggie had forgotten all about the pain. Her hips instinctively kept time with Beckett's. Maggie felt a swell come up in her stomach. She screamed not in pain this time, but in pure pleasure. Beckett smiled at her as a gutterl moan escaped him as well. He pulled out of her before he exploded and covered her belly with his seed. He then callapsed on top of her. Their sweat beaded bodies breathing in sync with one another lay in a heap in the middle of the bed. Maggie lay there revealing in the feelings that she had just experienced.

Beckett composed himself and rolled off of her. "You may return to your quarters now." He ordered.

Maggie could not believe the words he just said. Her mind was racing. What?!? He rolled over and looked at her waiting for her to leave. Maggie stood up akwardly. She pulled her dress back on and gathered her under garments and shoes in her arms. Maggie's heart was broken once again. She couldn't believe he had told her to leave. Maggie was confused and hurt. She turned the lock on his bed chambers door. She opened the door only to see Mercer standing at his post outside. Maggie was mortified. Mercer did not even acknowledge her. She pulled the clothing she was holding closer to her and walked out into the hallway. Mercer shut the door. She could hear the door lock from the inside. She cringed and began to cry. She hoped no one would be up at this hour to see her walking shamefully to her room.

Persuade Me - A PotC: DMC FanFic

Title: Persuade Me
Author: social_siren
Rating: NC-17
Word count: 1,218
Character/pairing: Jack/Elizabeth
Disclaimer: Alas, Disney owns it all.
Summary: During DMC. What is Elizabeth thinking about when she is smiling on the deck of The Pearl?

“Persuade me…” Jack said smoothly as he turned back to her and gazed down at her. She had wanted to persuade him. Oh, had she wanted to persuade him and so much more. But, instead she had walked away frustrated that he wouldn’t give her the pardon back. Now she stood leaning against the ship’s railing smiling at what she could have done to persuade him. She wanted to know why the compass always pointed at him? She didn’t have any feelings for him, did she? He had never done anything that wouldn’t benefit himself, right? She wasn’t actually attracted to him, was she? The thought made her smile even more. She let her mind wander as to what would have happened if she had stayed and persuaded him.

The sounds of the sea and the noise of the other pirates attending to their duties faded away. It was just she and Jack on the deck of the Pearl. She was standing behind him when he turned around and looked down in to her eyes and smoothly said, “Persuade me…” She gazed back up at him and slowly ran both her hands up the sleeves of his coat to the collar. She lifted the collar and pulled him down to her. She brought her lips as close as they could be without actually touching. She could smell the rum on his lips. It intoxicated her. “Curiosity…” she said breathlessly. Then she let go of his collar and turned to walk away.

Jack wasn’t going to let her go so easily this time. He grabbed her arm and spun her around pulling her body against his wrapping his arm around her waist and pinning her arm behind her. “You won’t be getting away with that this time. My dear Lizzie.” He slid his arm down her free arm and locked it behind her holding both her wrists with his one hand. She knew he was stronger than she was and could hold her like this even if she tried to struggle. He took his finger the one with the gold ring and black stone upon it and ran it down her face continuing down her neck. He slowly pushed her hair back behind her shoulder. He rested his arm around her putting his hands together around her wrists at the small of her back. He looked at her once more with those kohl lined eyes and leaned down to nuzzle her neck. He planted kisses all along her neck sending her flesh aflame. She arched her back in his arms. As she arched her back she pressed herself against him. He felt the pressure of her against him and returned the pleasurable pressure back to her. Elizabeth tried to free one of her hands, but he would not release her wrists.

“You don’t want to be doing that, Luv.” He whispered in her ear. She wanted more than anything to freely give him whatever he desired, but would not give anything up without a little bit of reluctance. The thought of him having to restrain her aroused her even more. She tried once again to move her hands.

He tightened his grip on her wrists making her whimper from the pain of his grip. He liked to hear her whimper. He pushed her backwards making her take a step back for balance. He continued pressing himself against her until they reached the railing of the Pearl. He leaned down to kiss her but she turned her head away from his smiling and teasing him. She looked back into his eyes as he smiled that wryly smile. One of his gold teeth glinted in the sunlight. He again took both of her wrists into his one hand so he could use his free hand again. He began untying the laces of her shirt slowly. Her chest heaved in anticipation of what he was going to do next.

Elizabeth bucked her hips towards him playfully taunting him. Jack’s grin widened. "That’s not very lady like now, is it LIzzie?" Jack looked down at her with one eyebrow slightly raised. Elizabeth blushed for she knew he was right. She didn’t care whether she was being a lady right now or not. She wanted Jack to take her maidenhead right now on the deck of the Pearl. Ladylike, really? What was Jack thinking? Did he really want her to act like a lady right now? No, Jack didn’t want her to act like a lady at all. He merely wanted to get a rise out of her and that he did. He saw her cheeks grow crimson after he asked the question. Elizabeth began to struggle to get free. "Wait for the most opportune time, Luv." Jack restrained her by pushing her back against the railing. Elizabeth relaxed at his words.
His voice was like silk wrapping her up in its softness. Jack slowly tugged Elizabeth’s shirt up out of her breeches. One section at a time torturing her whilst she wait for him to make his next move. Jack slid his free hand under her shirt gently cupping her firm breast in the palm of his hand. Elizabeth moaned as he ever so slightly squeezed her breast. He ran his fingers over her taught nipple. She felt the coldness of his gold ring pass over her nipple making it perk up even more. Jack lifted Elizabeth’s shirt exposing her breasts to the cool sea air.

He slowly released her wrists giving her a look that told her not to fight him or he would stop pleasuring her. She read his look and obeyed him. She gripped the railing behind her whilst he leaned down with his tongue and gently circled her nipple making a tingling sensation fill her body. He slowly took her nipple into his mouth and suckled it gently biting down just to hear her moan with pleasure. He squeezed her other nipple between his fingertips revealing in the softness of her. It was more than Elizabeth could stand: the moistness of his mouth sucking her nipple. She let go of the railing and put her hands in his hair. She gripped the sides of his head and pulled him closer to her. Jack’s arousal became more intense by her forcefulness. He began sucking harder and faster. Squeezing her other breast harder and harder. Elizabeth could hardly stand it. She felt her breeches grow moist with every lash of his tongue across her nipple. Jack slid his hand down the outside of her breeches to feel the moistness he created. He wanted to hoist her up on the railing and take her maidenhead right then, but restrained himself for this being her first time he wanted her to remember each and every feeling he would be making her feel this night.

“There was a time I would have given anything for you to think of me like that.” A voice said. Lizzie looked up at Jack only to see Norrington’s face!

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Lizzie retorted.

Chapter 8 - The Prisoner

Maggie rolled over on to her side. She immediately put her hand to her bandaged head. The pain was unbearable. She closed her eyes and grimaced as she tried to remember what had happened the night before to give her such an awful headache. Her eyes shot wide open when someone moved next to her!

“Good morning, Maggie.” Beckett turned over and smiled at her.

Maggie jumped out of the bed and immediately regretted her actions. Her head spun and the pain engulfed her blinding her. She ran into the wall falling into a slump in the corner.

Beckett just looked at her and shook his head. He got up and went to the door.

“Mercer.” He called annoyed.

Mercer came in and saw Maggie slumped in the corner.

“Take her to her quarters.” He ordered.

Mercer left and returned with two soldiers. One of the soldiers picked Maggie up out of the corner and carried her out of the room. Beckett motioned to Maggie’s dress lying on a chair nearby. The doctor had removed it the night before to fully examine her. Mercer picked it up and gave it to the other soldier. Mercer shut Beckett’s door behind them and took his post again.

Beckett put his hand to his forehead and rolled his eyes. He sighed and licked his lips irritated at Maggie’s stupidity. Beckett was annoyed with Maggie because she had injured herself. He had not expected her to run from the soldiers. His plan was to have the soldiers bring her up to his office after he had dismissed Governor Swann. He was then going to thank Maggie personally for the service she had done for him. Injuring herself negated his plans. He was not happy that Maggie had ruined his plans to seduce her.

Beckett called for a few servants to dress him.

He would think of a new way to seduce Maggie later. Right now he needed to deal with a certain captain, Captain Smythe.

**

The first soldier lay Maggie down in her bed. The other soldier lay Maggie’s dress across the end of her bed and they left. Maggie groaned. She lay there trying to figure out how she ended up in Lord Beckett’s bed. Last she remembered she was running away from the soldiers that had attacked her down at the docks. How she ended up in Lord Beckett’s bed was beyond her. Maggie was mortified.

He had ordered the soldiers to remove her from his quarters this morning. She hadn’t remembered what had happened between them the night before. He was displeased that she had jumped out of his bed surprised to wake up there and insulted him in the process. How could she have insulted him like that? He had brought her into his chambers after the soldiers had abused her to comfort her and she jumped away from him like he had the plague! Beckett would never ask her to serve him again. Maggie’s heart sank.

**

When Maggie did not report for her morning duties her mother became very worried. Maggie’s mother finished the breakfast dishes and went to check on her daughter. She knocked on Maggie’s door. There was no answer. She knocked again calling for Maggie. “Maggie?”

“Mum.” Maggie groaned in pain. Her mother rushed into the room hearing the pain in Maggie’s voice. She immediately froze with terror when she saw Maggie’s bandaged head.

“Dear God, Maggie? What happened to you?” She exclaimed. Her mother ran to her side and cradled her in her arms.

Maggie told her mother everything she remembered from the night before. Maggie’s mother was furious!

“How could he allow such behavior?” She exclaimed.

Maggie just shrugged her shoulders. Maggie saw how angry her mother was growing.

“Mum, promise me you won’t confront Lord Beckett, please?” Maggie begged.

“He treats you like this and you wish me to remain silent? I will not! Why he is…” Maggie interrupted her saying weakly, “Mum, please you don’t know what he is like.”

Maggie’s mother just looked down at her in disbelief. Maggie put her hand over her mother’s hand. Her mother calmed down knowing that Maggie was right. Lord Beckett was not one she could just walk up to and confront about such a matter. She would end up in a worse condition than Maggie if she let her temper get the best of her in Lord Beckett’s presence.

Maggie’s mother agreed that she would not say a word to Lord Beckett about any of it. She loved her daughter dearly and did not wish any more harm to befall her. Maggie’s mother nursed Maggie’s throbbing headache.

As Maggie’s mother got up to get Maggie a clean nightgown someone knocked on the door. Maggie’s mother went to the door and answered it. It was the fort physician.

“I am here to change the girl’s bandages.” He said.

Maggie’s mother opened the door the rest of the way and allowed the doctor to enter.

**

It had been a month since Maggie’s interaction with the soldiers. Her head had healed for the most part. She still got the occasional headache, but they were becoming few and far between. Maggie had resumed her duties as a serving girl at the fort.

Lord Beckett had not called for her since that dreadful evening. She blamed his neglect on herself. She should have been more receptive to him the next morning. She had berated herself for the last few weeks. Cursing herself for not realizing her place in his presence. Maggie wiped a tear from her eye and returned to the laundry duties she held before her.

**

Another month passed before she heard from Lord Beckett. Maggie was in the kitchen assisting in the preparation of the evening feast. There was to be a masquerade ball in Lord Beckett’s honor. Rumors had it that Commodore Norrington had returned with the heart of Davy Jones. Maggie dismissed them as just rumors. Her father being the seaman he was had told her many stories of Davy Jones. She thought them all to be children’s stories he used to get her to sleep at night.

Mercer entered the kitchen, “Maggie.” He called.

Maggie almost dropped the bowl she was carrying. Her mouth hung wide open.

“Don’t stand there with your mouth gaping open, girl! Come here!” Mercer ordered.

Maggie set down the bowl and quickly walked up to him. She lowered her eyes to the ground before her. She was ashamed to be in his presence. She just knew he was aware of everything that had happened two months ago.

“Lord Beckett has a missive for you.” He said as he handed her the letter.

Maggie’s head shot up and she looked him dead in the eye. “A missive for me?” She questioned.

“Aye, a missive for you.” He said sternly.

Maggie took the letter and immediately opened it in his presence.

Maggie,

I do hope you have healed since our last meeting.
I am in need of your services once again. I wish you to
accompany me to the masquerade ball. Wear the dress
that I bought you.

Lord Cutler Beckett

Maggie’s heart skipped a beat. Maggie blinked and reread the letter again.

“Come with me.” Mercer ordered. Maggie followed Mercer into the hall. “I will be at your room at seven this evening to escort you to the ballroom, understand?”

Maggie looked at him surprised at receiving the letter and not totally believing that it was true.

“Understand?” He repeated obviously annoyed with her.

“Aye, I understand.” She replied. With her answer Mercer turned and walked away from her.

Maggie knew it was nearly seven now. She ran up to her room to dress for the evening. She dare not insult Lord Beckett a second time. Maggie swung the door to her room wide open. On her bed was a box and a note. Maggie opened the box. Inside was a golden mask. The note read: For you.

Chapter 1 – The Meeting

Cutler Beckett sat at the former commodore’s desk. He had a smug grin on his face as he worked. He was writing up documents for the EITC that he would encourage Gov. Swann to sign the next day. A tiny knock at the door raised his eyes from the paper that lay in front on him to the large wooden door.

“Enter” He commanded. A maid of about 25 years of age entered the room carrying a silver tray with a pitcher, small teacup, a pitcher of cream, and a bowl of sugar.

“I’ve brought you the tea you requested, my lord.” She said as she stepped inside the room and walked over to the side of Lord Beckett’s desk.

The girl’s red hair caught Beckett’s attention. He took a moment and examined the girl. The top half of her hair was twisted into a bun at the crown of her head while the rest fell across her shoulders & down her back. Her face was round and sprinkled with freckles.

She set the tray down, picked up the pitcher and began to pour the tea into the little silver cup. Beckett leaned back in his chair for a moment and admired her simple beauty. His eyes rested on the curve of her bosom. He watched her chest rise and fall with the grace of her breath. She set down the tea pitcher and picked up the sugar bowl.

“One lump or two, my lord?” She asked as she shyly looked up at him.

“One.” He answered as he looked into her ocean blue eyes. She quickly returned her eyes to her duties. She picked up a spoon and scooped up one lump of sugar and sprinkled in into the steaming cup.

“Cream, my lord?” She asked slowly raising her eyes to his. He waited for her eyes to meet his before he answered.

“Yes.” He said slowly almost in a hiss as he grinned at her. She again returned her eyes to the tea pouring the cream into the cup. She took the spoon and slowly stirred it.

She picked up the cup and leaned over the side of his desk to place it in front of Lord Beckett. He took advantage of the view and let his eyes roam over her well-rounded breasts. As she began to rise back up Beckett set down the feather pen he had been writing with and picked up the teacup sipping it slowly.

“If you will not be needing anything else from me, my lord, may I take my leave?” She asked.

He again let his eyes roam her body. “What is your name, girl?”

“Maggie, my lord” She said as she bowed her head.

“Yes, Maggie, you may take your leave.” He answered.

Maggie gave him a quick curtsy and walked towards the door.

“Maggie.” Beckett called as she walked to the door. Maggie froze in her steps and slowly turned around to face him.

“Aye, my lord?” She answered questioningly.

“Thank you.” He replied.

“You’re welcome, my lord.” She said cautiously and then turned back towards the door. She shut the door behind her and leaned against it taking a deep breath. Maybe he’s not as bad as everyone says he is. She said to herself.

Chapter 2 – The Maid

Maggie walked back down the long corridor in which she had come. Every one of her footsteps echoed in the empty hall. It gave her an uncomfortable feeling like someone was watching her. She reached the staircase at the end of the hall & quickly descended them. She had grown up in the fort at Port Royal. She knew every hallway and every room. Everyone from the lowest servant to the Governor knew her. Her mother, Sabine, is a cook in the fort kitchens and her father, Arthur, is a former sailor. He had been a sailor years before but was injured in a sea battle and was put to shore. He now worked on the docks doing odd jobs here and there.

As she made her way back towards the servant’s quarters she began to think about her experience with Lord Beckett. Everyone had warned her that he was not a man she wanted to upset. She had seen him only but a few times and only in his passing. He was definitely a military man: very stern and poised. Still something about him gave her goose flesh whenever he was around. She didn’t even have to see him to know he had entered the room. His presence put everyone on edge. When she was ordered to bring him his tea her stomach turned upside down in anticipation of what it would be like to actually meet him.

She had to admit it wasn’t as uncomfortable as she thought it would be. She had noticed him sizing her up as soon as she entered the room. This did not bother her so much. Her red hair had caught many a man’s eye. Because of her station she was quickly dismissed as nothing but a nice distraction. No man had ever showed anymore interest in her than that. Her freckles and round face seem to be a deterrent for most men anyway so she need not worry about having to please any of them. That would be why she was 25 and still not wed. Her mother simply told her that once she was married she would know how to please her husband. She need not know anything that happens after marriage now.

To most Maggie seemed very naïve to the world. She looked very innocent and acted the part. Growing up in the fort she had learned that by keeping her mouth shut and her ears open that one could use the information heard for more than just idle chatter. She thought by taking Lord Beckett his tea she might be able to learn more about the EITC. She had heard small bits and pieces of conversation since Lord Beckett’s arrival but nothing she thought was of much value.

The first impression she had of him as she entered the room was that he was a stern man without any morals. Seeing his interest in her seemed to soften him a bit. At least he showed that he did have some soft spot even if it only be for young ladies serving him. She liked it when men showed interest in her. Not knowing the things that vex men only meant she was naïve to their motives.

She had feelings that she could not explain and no one to talk to about them. Why did her palms sweat so when she was around Lord Beckett earlier? When he smiled at her and said yes to the cream why had she felt a tingle betwixted her legs within her bloomers?

“Maggie!” someone yelled from the kitchen. Maggie realized that she had stopped and leaned up against the frame of the door to the kitchen as she pondered her feelings.

“Maggie! Please move! You be in me way lass!“ She looked up to see one of the manservants holding a hot bucket of water in front of her. No doubt the hot water was for a bath for one of the nobles staying in the fort.

“My apologies.” She said sincerely as she stepped aside and let him pass. Maggie tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and returned to the dishes she had been washing before she was called away to deliver Lord Beckett’s tea.

Chapter 3 – The Lord

Lord Beckett watched Maggie’s backside as she left the room. Her hips slowly swayed from side to side with each step.

Providential, I know, but a nice distraction none the less. He thought to himself as he licked his lips.

As the door shut behind her he wondered what he could ask for next to bring her back later that evening. For now he had work to be done. Getting the smell of her out of his mind would prove to be challenging. She smelled sweet like honeysuckle with just a touch of lye. He continued his work on the paperwork he would have Governor Swann make official tomorrow. His grin widened with every stroke of his feather pen.

He continued writing and began to think about what he would do once he had Jack’s compass. He would use it to find the chest that held Davy Jones’ heart. Then he would hold the heart captive in turn capturing Davy Jones himself & then he would become the most powerful man on the high seas! No one would dare mock him or disobey him again! Everyone one would follow his orders! Everyone would have to do all their trading through the EITC. If not they would not be able to transport any of their goods from port to port because he would send the Kracken after anyone who tried to sail HIS waters without his permission! He would put a stop to piracy and if the pirates did not submit to him he would force them to become a member of The Flying Dutchman’s crew or die! If they did submit he would make them a part of his armada and soon he would have the largest sea battalion in the world. No other country would dare try to defy him or England!

He thought a minute to himself, First the entire sea and then country by country I will conquer the world!

He poured himself another cup of tea and his thoughts were brought back to Maggie. She was a simple girl. He noticed how nervous she was about serving him. He saw how her breath quickened when she leaned over to place his teacup in front of him. He liked the way she quivered so in his presence. It has been some time since a woman warmed his bed. Women were not a necessity in his life. They tended to meddle in his affairs and cause his men to be distracted. Besides most of the women that were worthy of him were already married. He did learn that they could be very good at gathering information for him though. His thoughts came back to Maggie. She could show to be very useful in more ways then one. He thought as he rubbed his finger across his chin and smiled.

Later that evening…

“Maggie!” Her mother Sabine called to her.

“Aye, I be here in the kitchen, mum.” She answered.

“Maggie, dear, come quickly!” Sabine shouted.

Maggie quickly dried her hands on her apron and swiftly walked to the parlor where her mother was cleaning. That evening there would be a gathering of high ranking military men after supper. Lord Beckett had called the meeting and specifically ordered that Maggie be the one to serve them and only Maggie. Sabine had been told that because it was a meeting of high ranking officers Lord Beckett did not want a lot of people coming in and out. Maggie’s heart almost jumped out of her chest. She swallowed hard.

Why would he ask for me to be the chosen servant? She thought.

Maggie smiled. He was impressed at how I poured his tea earlier. That’s why. She mentally patted herself on the back.

“Now go and put on your finest skirts and chemise. I will be there to help you into your nicest corset.” Sabine said. “You will need to look your best around the officers.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Maggie answered almost singing. She turned and practically skipped to her quarters.

Maggie stood just inside the door as the officers entered the meeting room. She took all their hats & coats as they entered. When her arms became full she put them in a near by closet and quickly returned to gather more. Lord Beckett had not arrived yet. Maggie wondered why he was not here yet. She had prepared everything as her mother had told her. There was coffee, tea, and rum sitting on a table at the back of the room. The officers had just finished supper and she was to serve them their after supper drinks while they discussed their plans for the EITC. The room was like the other parlors in the fort. Large plush chairs in all four corners of the room with long couches on either wall opposite each other. The center of the room was bare except for a large Oriental rug that took up most of the floor. Ten officers attended the meeting. They had taken seats as they pleased around the room. A couple of them had glanced at Maggie but for the most part they all regarded her as the maid she was. When Maggie had gathered all the coats and hats there were she put them with the rest and began her duties.

She picked up the tea tray first and walked to the officer closest on the left. He declined the tea. She slowly made her way around the room to each officer offering the tea. A couple of them accepted it, but for the most part they all declined it. She decided to take the rum around the room next. Again she started with the officer on her left. He eagerly accepted her offer. She again made her way around the room. As she came to the door it was quickly opened and Lord Beckett stepped inside. She was startled by how close she had been to spilling the rum all over him when he entered. She quickly regained her wits and went straight into a proper reverence.

Lord Beckett took notice of Maggie reverencing next to him her head bowed waiting for him to acknowledge her. He liked how she looked bowed down in front of him. He took a moment to enjoy his fantasy. Then after a beat he smiled putting his finger on her chin and lifting her face up so she was looking up at him and said,” Rise you up, dear. I am sure these men are parched from a long hard day of drills.” Maggie swallowed hard and slowly rose upwards. Lord Beckett continued into the room and took a seat in the largest chair in the far corner of the room.

Maggie finished serving the rum to the rest of the officers. She had poured everyone a glass. Instead of offering the coffee she thought it best to wait for someone to request it. She stood silently by the table awaiting one of them to tell her what they wanted.

“Maggie?” Beckett called to her holding up his empty glass. “Bring me the rum.” He ordered rather sternly. Maggie mentally smacked herself. How could she have forgotten to serve Lord Beckett? She was so flushed after almost running into him that she had forgotten to go back to him. She quickly grabbed the rum bottle and swiftly made her way across them room. She poured the rum into his glass and stepped aside bowing her head awaiting his next request. Beckett took notice of her black cotton skirt and white apron freshly starched. Her corset was black with white lace trim gently accenting her bosom.

“That will be all.” He told her. She quickly made her way back to the table in the back of the room berating herself the whole way. Maggie stood by the side of the table. Spine straight, head up, and hands folded nicely in front of her.

Beckett saw how upset she was about not serving him. I will let her ask my forgiveness later. He thought as he grinned.

“Gentlemen, thank you for attending this meeting…” Beckett said as he started the meeting. Maggie listened to every word Beckett said. She didn’t understand it all but she listened none the less. One or two officers asked her for refills during the meeting but for the most part she stood tall at the back. She kept her eye on Lord Beckett. The more she looked at him the more she found she liked certain features: his eyes for one. While at first glance seemed hard and cold began to soften when she gazed into them as he was speaking. He looked quite regal in his uniform. She continued to admire little things about him daydreaming all the while. She was awakened into reality when she heard Lord Beckett say, ”that concludes are meeting, gentlemen.” All the men stood up and gave a slight bow to Lord Beckett. Maggie quickly went to the closet and gathered the men’s coats and hats. She stood at the door and handed them back out. After the last gentleman had taken his belongings and left she turned around to take a deep breath and relax. Just as she was about to exhale she looked over to the chair where Beckett was still sitting looking at her. It startled her to see him sitting there. She put her hand to her chest. “Oh!” She gasp. “Sorry, to startle you Maggie. You did well today.” He said.

“Thank you, my lord.” She replied and quickly curtsied.

“Shut the door.” He ordered. “Please.” He added.

Chapter 4 – The Evening

Maggie lay in bed staring up at the ceiling. She lay there thinking about what Lord Beckett had asked of her this afternoon after the meeting. She wasn’t sure how to react when he told her what he wanted her to do. At first she was honored, but then she thought about it and realized she could get herself into a mess of trouble. When he handed her a pouch with coins in it she was overjoyed. No one had ever paid her so heavily for her duties. He told her to go to the tailor and to buy a dinner dress. He also told her to tell no one that she was buying the dress for herself. He said to tell the tailor she was getting it for one of the ladies staying at the fort. This way no one would be suspicious and ask where she got the money and why Lord Beckett was buying her a dress. Her heart sank when he told her that he didn’t want anyone to know the dress was for her. Seeing her disappointment he leaned over and whispered in her ear, “You’re beautiful…” Her eyes lit up and her cheeks crimsoned. She could still feel his warm breath on her neck and his fingers pushing her hair back over her shoulder. Maggie soon fell asleep dreaming of her evening with Lord Beckett.

****

Lord Beckett sat in his bedchamber going over the maps Mercer had delivered earlier that day. He stopped and rubbed his temples as he was developing a headache trying to locate Jack Sparrow and his compass. As he was rubbing his temples he glanced long ways and noticed an empty teacup sitting on his bed stand. He had carried it into his bedchamber after the officers meeting. It reminded him of Maggie and their conversation just shortly before he retired to his rooms. He wondered what she thought about what he had asked her to do for him. The corner of his lip curled up in a devious smile. He licked his lips and reveled in his brilliance. She would fit perfectly into his plan.

Beckett took a moment and fantasized about what Maggie would look like in her new dinner dress. He sat back in his chair and crossed his leg setting his foot on his knee. He stared at the teacup and imagined Maggie leaned over pouring him tea, her long red hair cascading down around her shoulders. He liked the way she catered to his every whim. He could ask her to do anything he wanted her to do. He smiled and called her over to him. Maggie looked up at him shyly and picked up the teacup. She walked to him slowly carrying the cup in front of her. She stopped in front of him and awaited his next request.

He sat up straight uncrossing his leg and setting his foot square on the floor. He took the teacup from her and set it down on a nearby table. Maggie released the cup and folded her hands in front of her. Beckett looked up at her admiring the way she quivered nervously in front of him. He rested his hands on her waist and sat her down in his lap. Maggie obeyed his silent command without question.

Not knowing where to look Maggie gazed down at her hands keeping her head bowed. Beckett ran his hand over her shoulder pushing her long silky hair back away from her face. He tucked her hair behind her ear and gazed at her with that wry smile. Maggie smiled meekly at him not sure what to do. Maggie’s heartbeat quickened as Beckett raised her face to his with one finger. Maggie’s lips parted instinctively. Beckett gazed in her eyes. She could see the longing in his eyes. Beckett took a long look at her face. Her round blue eyes showed her innocence. He knew she had never been touched by a man in this manner. Her eyes told him that she was not experienced in the art of pleasing men. He wondered how she managed to escape the clutches of some drunken officer all these years. Her round face showed no blemishes only freckles gingerly sprinkled across her nose and cheeks. Maggie took a deep nervous breath. Beckett leaned towards her. Maggie could feel his warm breath against her lips. She sucked in a hesitant breath. Instinctively she closed her eyes.

BAM, BAM, BAM! “Lord Beckett come quickly!,” A voice thundered from the other side of his bed chamber door. Beckett shook himself. He blinked a few times and realized someone was really knocking on the door.

“Come in!” Beckett ordered. Mercer opened the door and hurried in.

“Lord Beckett, the Governor has freed his daughter and they are headed to the docks!” Mercer informed him.

“Go to the docks and head them off then!” Beckett ordered through clenched teeth.

Mercer did as ordered. Beckett headed down the hall to his office.

Chapter 5 – The Dress

Maggie awoke early the next morning unaware of the ruckus the Governor and his daughter, Elizabeth, had caused during the night. Maggie dressed quickly. She grabbed the pouch of coins and tied them to her belt. She quickly ran down stairs to fetch Lord Beckett’s breakfast tray.

Maggie made a meal tray of fruit, cheese, and bread with a soft-boiled egg on the side. She also gathered a tea tray together for Lord Beckett’s morning tea. With the help of another servant she carried the meal tray and the tea tray to Lord Beckett’s office. Maggie gently tapped on the door.

“Who is it?” Lord Beckett sneered.

“It is I, Lord Beckett, Maggie with your breakfast and tea trays.” Maggie replied.

“Enter” Beckett ordered.

Maggie and the other servant entered his office. Maggie set the tea tray down on a table and took the meal tray from the other servant. “Thank you,” she whispered. The other servant went back to the kitchen to finisher her duties. Maggie began to serve Lord Beckett his breakfast. She noticed Lord Beckett looked a bit tired like he had not had a good night’s rest the night before. She wondered if he had dreamed of her like she dreamed of him. She let her mind wonder to the dream she had had the night before. A smile crossed her face but was quickly replaced with shock as she heard Lord Beckett say, “That won’t be necessary.”

Beckett waved her away with his hand. Maggie was taken aback. Seeing her standing there Beckett sternly said, “You are dismissed, Maggie.”

Maggie couldn’t understand why Lord Beckett didn’t want her to continue serving him this morning. He seemed preoccupied with his work, but she could have served him anyway. All of his kindness was gone. His eyes were cold. It was as if she was just another servant girl. Maggie did not wish to upset his lordship further so she left as he had commanded.

Outside his office door Maggie began to silently cry. Tears began slowly falling down her cheeks. Maggie didn’t know how she had fallen from Lord Beckett’s grace. She had done everything he asked of her thus far. Maggie wiped the tears from her face. As she wiped her hand on her apron the pouch of coins jingled. The dress! She was supposed to go buy a dress! Maybe that’s why his was so curt with her. She hadn’t bought the dress he told her to yet. Maggie quickly ran back to her quarters and discarded her apron. She grabbed her kerchief and headed into town to buy her dress. No one would miss her because everyone thought she was serving Lord Beckett his breakfast. No one knew she had been dismissed from her duties.

**

Beckett knew he had hurt Maggie’s feelings when he dismissed her. He didn’t have time for any distractions this morning. As much as he hated to admit it Maggie was definitely becoming a distraction to him. He couldn’t have her round hips swaying around his office this morning nor her red curls dangling in front of him as she poured his tea. The rise and fall of her chest as she took in deep nervous breaths wasn’t conclusive to his current mind frame either.

Elizabeth had held him at gunpoint last night and demanded he sign the pardon he had reserved for Jack Sparrow. Giving it to her was not what caused his irritation this morning. Not knowing where to find the heart of Davy Jones was what was consuming him this morning. He had gone over every map he had found and still was unable to locate the island that held the chest.

Beckett took a long breath and ate a piece of the cheese Maggie had brought him. As he sunk his teeth into the cheese he wondered what it would be like to sink his teeth into Maggie’s plump breast. The smell of her inflamed his nostrils. He wanted to show Maggie how to please a man. He wanted to teach her how to please him. He finished the piece of cheese and went back to his maps. Seducing Maggie would have to wait for another time. Right now he had to find the chest. He grinned to himself. The dead man’s chest, that is.

**

Maggie took longer than she wanted to picking up her dress. The tailor’s seem to be a very busy place this morning. No one really paid her much attention. They all knew she was a servant girl from the fort and just assumed she was fetching a dress for one of the noble ladies. The tailor didn’t even pay her any mind until she showed him her pouch full of coins. Then he quickly showed her the few dresses he had. She told him that the Lady that the dress was for asked that it be altered before Maggie brought it back. He told her that would be difficult to do seeing as the Lady was not here. Maggie told him that the Lady was about the same size Maggie was and told Maggie to fit it to her size. The tailor looked around briefly and then asked her to come back behind the counter and into a small fitting room. Normally the tailor fitted his clients in the front room where all could see his work, but he did not want anyone to see he was fitting a servant girl into a Ladies dress. Maggie knew her place and shrugged the insult off. She didn’t mind much for she got a beautiful new dress!

Maggie set the box the dress was in on her bed and secured the door to her sleeping quarters. She didn’t want anyone walking in on her whilst she admire her new dress. She opened the box and pulled it out. It was a beautiful forest green. The sleeves were long and had lace cuffs. The skirt was adorned with simple gold buttons that lined the bottom hem. She couldn’t be more pleased. She knew Lord Beckett would adore her in it. She hugged the dress tightly. She took one last look at it and put it back in the box hiding it under her bed. Maggie smiled as she returned to her duties.

Chapter 6 – The Plan

Weeks passed by and Lord Beckett hadn’t called for Maggie once. Maggie cried herself to sleep every night. When she would try to take him his breakfast tray Mercer always stopped her at the door and told her to leave the tray with him. He would wait until she left and then he would take the tray into Lord Beckett’s office. One time she waited after she turned the corner and peeked back around to see Mercer take the tray in. She was hoping to hear Lord Beckett’s voice or to catch a glimpse of him. She missed serving him dearly. She cursed herself for thinking he could actually be interested in her. A servant girl and a Lord: not in this lifetime. Maggie wiped a tear from her cheek and went back to her duties.

Maggie wondered if he had forgotten about what he had asked her to do. She hadn’t forgotten. She wanted to please him so badly. He told her he would send a missive to her when she was to set the plan into action. She wondered why he had asked her to wear a lady’s dress and wait down by the docks anyway. What significance would that have? Maggie shrugged it off. He probably decided she wasn’t pretty enough and that’s why he hadn’t sent her a missive. Maybe he found another girl to do his bidding. Lord knows there are prettier serving girls than she at the fort. Maggie’s heart sank. She wished she wasn’t so round and pudgy. Maggie picked up the pile of sheets from all the rooms she had cleaned and took it down to the washing room.

**

Beckett stood looking out the window of his office. He watched as the men did their drills. He smiled. He wondered how Maggie was fairing. He knew she was probably heartsick for him. He wanted her to yearn for him so when he sent her the missive telling her to go down to the docks she would be so excited that she wouldn’t question what would happen next. He didn’t tell her that she was just a pawn in his little game.

He needed Governor Swann’s complete cooperation. He knew that if Governor Swann thought that Beckett had caught up with Elizabeth that he would do anything to keep Beckett from harming her. Having Maggie pose as Elizabeth down at the docks would be just the thing to convince Governor Swann surrender the officer that assisted him in his escape attempt. As it stood Governor Swann knew his daughter had eluded Lord Beckett. Mercer had told both he and Governor Swan that Elizabeth had been seen with Jack Sparrow in Tortuga not too long ago. Knowing Elizabeth was with Jack made Governor Swann relax a bit. Even if he didn’t like Jack he would rather his daughter be with him than Cutler Beckett. This comfort would soon be taken away for Lord Beckett knew that once Governor Swann thought that Elizabeth had been captured he would give up the officer’s name that was helping him.

**

Another week went by and there was still no word from Lord Beckett. Maggie accepted the fact that she was a mere serving girl and that her existence here was only to serve. Everyday she waited for a missive to come for her, but alas none came. She decided to forget the time she had shared with Lord Beckett. It’s not like anything really had happened between them anyway. So what if he told her she was beautiful. Who cares?

Maggie cares. Maggie cares deeply. No matter how she tried to forget him she dreamed about him every night. She took out the dress every night hoping to put it on for him and every night she tucked it back under her bed and silently cried to sleep. Tonight was no different. Maggie turned over and closed her eyes tightly trying to get his image out of her head.

As Maggie lay there trying to comfort herself she heard a knock on the door. Maggie jumped out of bed and bolted for the door. She gathered her composure at the door and then gently opened it. Mercer stood there looking at her in her nightgown disapprovingly. Maggie realized that in her excitement she forgot to put on her dressing robe. Her cheeks crimsoned and she looked down at the floor.

“Lord Beckett has a missive for you.” He said. She looked up at him and reached out for the letter. He handed it to her. He then turned around and was gone. She quickly shut the door and opened the missive.

Maggie,

The time has come for you to do what I
have asked of you. I know you will not
disappoint me.

Lord Cutler Beckett

Maggie’s heart raced. She knew that she had no time to waste. She pulled out the dress and put it on. She cursed herself for being so stupid as to think she could lace it up by herself. Lord Beckett would not be happy with her if she was not at her mark at the appropriate time. Maggie took a deep breath and decided she would have to wake up her mother. She knew it would be risky, but it was the only way to get her dress laced up.

Maggie went into her mother’s quarters where she lay sleeping. “Mum” She whispered. “Mum, wake up.” Sabine turned over groggy eyed and blinked as she tried to focus on Maggie.

“Maggie? What’s wrong girl? Why are you waking me up at this hour of the night?” Sabine sat up in bed and took a good look at Maggie. Her eyes widened with surprise.

“Mum, I can’t explain. I just need you to lace up my dress for me, please?” She pleaded.

“Where did you get that dress? You didn’t steal it did you? If you stole it…” Maggie cut her mother off.

“No, mum, I didn’t steal it. Lord Beckett got it for me. Now will you please help me lace it up?” She asked.

“Lord Becket?!? What are you talking about? Why would Lord Beckett buy you a lady’s dress?” She asked.

“I don’t have time to explain right now, mum. Please just lace me up. Lord Beckett has asked me to serve him this evening and he wants me to wear this dress. Now please just lace me up!” Maggie said exasperated.

“He wants you to serve him tonight?” Sabine said raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, tonight.” Maggie turned her back to her mother hoping it would encourage her to start lacing her up.

“What kind of service does he require of you at such a late hour?” Sabine prodded as she began putting the laces through the holes.

“I can not tell you that.” Maggie answered. Sabine stopped and gave her the eye. Maggie turned her head towards her mother. Maggie let out a deep breath and told her mother everything. Sabine finished lacing her up and turned her around to get a good look at her.

“I don’t agree with you getting mixed up in Lord Beckett’s affairs.” She said sternly. “But I know you don’t have a choice in the matter. We are but servants and must follow our Lord’s orders. That is our lot in life. We are here only to serve.” Maggie hugged her mother for understanding. Sabine smiled at her. “You look beautiful. Now lets put some rouge on your cheeks.” Maggie’s eyes lit up.

Maggie looked into her mother’s looking glass and smiled. Her cheeks and lips were red with rouge. Her hair fell down around her shoulders. She felt beautiful. Sabine hugged her. Maggie quickly hugged her back and gathered up her skirts. Maggie quietly opened the door and stepped into the hallway. She gently shut the door behind her and glanced from side to side. The hallway was clear.

It was dark in the streets of Port Royale. The only sounds were from the pub at the dock. Maggie quickly made her way to the spot where Lord Beckett had told her to wait. Maggie knew the docks were no place for a lady to be alone let alone a servant girl. She was glad she stole a knife from the kitchen and tucked it in her bodice. It made her feel safe knowing she could at least try to defend herself if someone attacked her. Maggie looked up towards Lord Beckett’s office. She saw him standing at his office window. Her heart skipped a beat to see him standing there. She smiled and took a deep breath.

**
Lord Beckett glanced out his office window at the docks. He saw Maggie and smiled. His plan was working out nicely. Beckett walked to the door to the office and opened it to see Mercer standing guard.

“Bring me Governor Swann.” He ordered. Mercer nodded and headed to the lower level of the fort where Governor Swann was being held captive. Beckett stepped back inside his office and continued to watch Maggie.

He was amazed at how beautiful she looked even from this distance. She was standing in the moonlight facing him. He crossed his arms and rubbed his finger along his chin. The wind was gently blowing her hair around her face. He licked his lips at the thought of kissing her right now

His fantasy was quickly interrupted by Mercer’s return. Governor Swann was in chains.

“Come here, Governor. I want you to see something.” Beckett ordered. Mercer pushed Governor Swann towards the window.

Governor Swann looked out the window. “Elizabeth!” He said in disbelief. Just then a soldier came up behind Maggie putting his hand over her mouth. He wrapped his other arm around her waist pinning her arms down.

Governor Swann lunged forward. “No!” He yelled.

Beckett laughed. “You see, no one escapes me, Governor Swann.”

Maggie stood at the dock looking up at Beckett’s window waiting for him to return. As she waited she straightened her dress and pushed back the hair that was fluttering about her face in the wind. When she looked back up he was standing there looking back at her. She saw him cross his arms and run his finger along his chin. He turned and beckoned someone to join him. Another man soon joined him. Both of them were looking at her. She wondered why they were just standing there looking down at her. Suddenly someone grabbed her from behind covering her mouth. Maggie was terrified. Maggie tried to scream, but it was no use. Maggie kicked and jerked about, but the man had a tight hold on her.

“Be still!” He hissed in her ear tightening his grip around her mouth and waist. Maggie winced at the pain. Tears were streaming down her face. The man jerked her around to face Beckett’s office.

Chapter 7 – The Capture

Beckett watched as Maggie struggled with the soldier. Seeing her wriggling in the soldier’s arms stirred something up inside him. The corner of his mouth went up in a devious grin. He enjoyed watching her struggle. He imagined what she would feel like pinned beneath him. He pictured her frightened of him pleading with him to please be gentle with her.

“Release her, Beckett!” Governor Swann ordered. Beckett raised an eyebrow at Governor Swann.

“I do not think you are in any position to being giving orders, Governor.” Beckett said in a low calm voice.

Beckett raised his arm and gave a hand signal to the soldier.

**

Another soldier came out of the darkness. The soldier with his arm around her waist loosened his grip. Maggie threw up her arm and slapped the approaching soldier. He was taken aback by the surprise attack. He grabbed Maggie’s arms and tied them up behind her.

“That was not a wise move, girl!” He growled at her.

The soldier that was holding his hand over her mouth pulled his hand away only to replace it with a strip of cloth. Maggie tried to scream, but the first soldier pulled his dagger out and held it to her throat. Maggie sucked in a hesitant breath as she felt the cold steel of the blade against her throat. She closed her eyes tight releasing a stream of tears down her cheek.

“I would nay be doing that if I were ye.” He cautioned. Maggie let out a whimper as the cloth was tied tightly behind her head. As Maggie’s chest heaved with her fearful breaths a glint of metal caught the second soldier’s eye.

“What be this?” He questioned as he put his hand down Maggie’s bodice. Maggie felt ill. He pulled out the knife Maggie had hidden. Shaking his head and tsking he put the knife in his belt.

Maggie looked helplessly up at Lord Beckett pleading with her eyes for his help, but found none. He just stood there watching her struggle unsuccessfully.

**

“Stop, you’re hurting her!” Governor Swann cried out.

Beckett just smiled and watched as Maggie was bound and gagged. The stirring inside Beckett grew. He took a deep breath and let out a small growl from the back of his throat only audible to him. He licked his lips and adjusted his posture to compensate for the intense arousal he felt within himself.

Beckett brought up his hand again and the soldiers ceased their attack on Maggie.

Beckett turned towards Governor Swann. “Give up the officer that is helping you nd your daughter will not be harmed farther.” Beckett said looking down his nose at him.

“That’s low even for you Beckett!” Governor Swann said insultingly.

Beckett’s eyes turned from harsh to ice as he began to raise his arm again.

**

One of the soldiers pulled out his pistol and aimed it at Maggie’s head. Maggie’s eyes widened with fear. Why was Lord Beckett allowing this to happen to her?

**

Governor Swann looked at him in disbelief. “It’s Captain Smythe! It’s Captain Smythe! Don’t harm my daughter!”

“Wise choice, Governor.” Beckett replied.

Becket lowered his hand. He turned and walked back into his office. Mercer escorted Governor Swann back down to the cells below.

The soldier behind Maggie took the knife away from her throat and the other soldier lowered his pistol away from her head. Maggie saw her chance to escape and threw her shoulders into the soldier with the knife knocking him backwards. She tried to take off running but the soldier with the pistol grabbed her arm and spun her around to where her breasts were pinned up against his chest.

“You shouldn’t have done that, wench.” He sneered face to face with her.

He pulled down her gag. He leaned in as if to kiss her making her grimace. Maggie tried to pull her face away from his. On instinct she threw her knee up between his thighs. He bellowed and clutched himself in pain dropping his pistol to the ground. Maggie shoved him into the second soldier. Both of the men collapsed backwards on to the ground. Maggie turned and ran for the fort with her arms still bound behind her.

Maggie was so distressed from her abuse that she couldn’t tell which way she was going. The darkness and her tears didn’t help her vision either. Maggie turned to see if the soldiers were after her. The soldier that had been holding her at knifepoint was not far behind her. She screamed in fear and bolted forward quickly not aware of the loose cobblestone ahead of her. Maggie twisted her ankle on the uneven ground and fell face first on the stone road smacking her head against the ground. The pain was unbearable. Maggie’s vision blurred and began to fade. The soldier chasing her caught up to her and flipped her over. Maggie lifted her head up to see the soldier but was unable to hold it up. It fell back hitting the ground behind her. Maggie let her head fall to one side. Her vision reddened and then was no more.

Mercer returned to Beckett’s office. “Lord, there seems to be a situation.” He said. Beckett looked at him waiting on him to explain. Mercer looked towards the door and said, “Come.”

The soldier carried Maggie into Beckett’s office. Beckett’s eyes widened when he saw the blood coming from her head. “What happened?” He hissed.

“She tried to escape, my lord.” The soldier answered.

Beckett rolled his eyes and took an indignant breath. “Put her in my chambers and go and wake the physic.” He ordered.

“But, my lord.” Mercer stared to protest but Beckett silenced him with a look.

Mercer bowed. “Yes, my lord.”

“Mercer,” Beckett called. “Make sure the physic knows that this visit is of the utmost secrecy.”

Mercer nodded in understanding. The soldier walked into Lord Beckett’s chambers with Beckett following behind him. The soldier looked around the room unsure of where to put Maggie. “My Lord, where shall I lay her?” He asked.

Beckett motioned towards the bed. “The blood, my Lord?” The soldier looked worried.

“Set her down unless you wish to continue holding her.” Beckett sneered. The soldier shook his head and set her down on Lord Beckett’s bed. The soldier rolled her to one side and untied her hands. Maggie’s bleeding head rolled onto Beckett’s pillow. The soldier looked at Beckett with worry in his eyes. Beckett let out an exasperated breath.

“Leave us.” Beckett ordered.

The soldier quickly left Beckett’s chambers. Beckett walked up to the bed and looked at Maggie’s head. He pushed a strand of hair away from her face careful not to get her blood on his finger. He stood there gazing down at her. A sheen of sweat glistened off her face, throat and chest. He leaned down next to her ear and whispered as he looked down at her limp form. “Maggie, what have you done to yourself, girl?”

Beckett stood up and slowly paced the floor next to his bed wondering what Maggie would think when she woke up in his bed the next morning. A lustful grin spread across his face.
